Highland Village

Located in Denton County, Highland Village negotiated and implemented commercial development projects that resulted in sales tax revenues booming by 482 percent in the past 10 years. The number is expected to take another significant jump when Whole Foods Market opens its doors in late 2014 and creates a new draw for miles around.

Summer is festival time in Highland Village. Its Red White and Blue festival includes fireworks and concerts. “Celebrate Highland Village” is another annual event held each August that includes a fireworks show, 1K and 5K runs, live music, and family fishing in a stocked pond. The local Lions Club hosts also holds its annual hot air balloon festival in Highland Village in August.

Residents enjoy escalating home values that come with and many other benefits of the city’s exploding tax base and the businesses that have built it. Other pluses include being adjacent to Lake Lewisville, and in close proximity to all the attractions of Dallas nearby. The Lewisville Independent School District services Highland Village residents through school located within its city limits including Highland Village Elementary, Heritage Elementary, McAuliffe Elementary and Briarhill Middle School. High school students living in Highland Village attend Marcus High School located in Flower Mound. Area medical facilities are state-of-the-art, including Denton Regional Medical Center, Medical Center of Lewisville and Texas Health Presbyterian Flower Mound. Highland Village is also served by several private and specialty schools, day cares and preschools.
