Richardson

Richardson is the place for art festivals! Annual events include the Cottonwood Art Festival, Huffhines Art Trails Festival, and Wildflower Arts & Music Festival. The community also hosts an annual Christmas Parade, Santa’s Village and Family 4th of July Celebration. City facilities include baseball and athletic fields, picnic areas and playgrounds as well as 40 miles or trails and walkways between Galatyn Woodland Preserve, Breckinridge Park or the Spring Creek Nature Area.

With its own Symphony Orchestra, Richardson Community Band, Theatre Centre, Repertory Company Theatre, Chamber Music Society, Visual Art Society and a number of Ballet troupes and other dance groups. Richardson has become a foundation for the arts for both local entertainment and national touring companies. The Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts and Corporate Presentations attracts people throughout North Texas to attend concerts, theatrical performances, and business meetings in an 117,000 square foot, multi-purpose public facility. Other popular attractions include the Owens Spring Farm and Museum, Miss Belle’s Place (a famous Victorian farmhouse) and the North Texas Auto Museum. Richardson’s central location makes it an entertainment hotspot itself and also makes it easily accessible to all the major area attractions, shopping establishments, and sporting events offered in the multiple cities that surround Richardson.

Residents of Richardson have a diversity of choices—from older established neighborhoods to new home communities. The Richardson Independent School District has a long-standing reputation for educational excellence, and the district is continually recognized at both the state and national levels. RISD received a “Recognized” rating from the Texas Education Agency from 2006-2012, the largest, most diverse district in Texas to earn that rating over those consecutive years.
